Re: // Online Event // Our rights as mental health carers - with Mental Health Carers NSW // Tues, Oct 27th 7-8.30pm AEDT

If a person needs involuntary treatment, they will usually be more unwell and so not able to do as many things as a voluntary patient, but it is often very helpful for recovery to do as many of your common or usual activities as possible.

Oh @Anastasia how very challenging. How is your son travelling now? Have you found the mental health rights of carers helpful at all? @JH_MHCN has listed some of the rights available just above 🙂

@Shaz51 I am so glad you were able to stay nearby. Accessibility is unbelievably important Heart I feel everyone should have a right to this as a mental health carer.

When assessing people or planning care, family and carer recognition is strengthened by 72B:

72B Requirement to consider information provided by carer be considered.

Recognised carers rights include:
· Whether an individual should be detained in a mental health facility (s72B);
· Other incidents of treatment (sections 75, 75 and 78);
· Ongoing involuntary treatment in the community (CTO) (s57(4)(b)); or
· Discharge and treatment planning (s 79).

Thank you @nashy

He's as good as he's been to date. His Dr doesn't validate me as the behaviour in my company was so different to the behaviour in his dr's company so I think his Dr thinks I exaggerated and I'm a fruit luoop now 😣

Is there a website to look up the rights please in simple terms

Hello @nashy , @JH_MHCN  I've been looking forward to this all week💚

Re: // Online Event // Our rights as mental health carers - with Mental Health Carers NSW // Tues, Oct 27th 7-8.30pm AEDT

the biggest trouble was that my husband was sent back to his old mental health team near our home town  which hes did not want to go back too and then he cancelled all help because it was my fault
