Re: Decluttering and home maintenance

Thanks @Former-Member  even if I just do a little bit each week it will add up over the year ... so many times I don’t have the energy to do a big job so don’t even do any of it - like the over cluttered house ... this is the year of baby steps ...

Re: Decluttering and home maintenance

@Sophie1

You are among friends, for most of us it is a gradual process 😀.

The big question is what are you going to do with the scarves you are not keeping?

Re: Decluttering and home maintenance

@Former-Member  Any excess clothes we always give to the local op shops and sometimes I put special items aside for my much younger cousin who has no income ... but when I get to my suits I might find out details of charities who provide office clothes to long term unemployed as that would sit well with me .. many suits I never wore as too small for me and I never shrunk that much lol

Re: Decluttering and home maintenance

Just being a bit cheeky @Sophie1 😀 I have been known to sort things and the unwanted items remain in situ at our place instead of being moved on 😬.

Re: Decluttering and home maintenance

Morning, Peoples.

I managed to pull out and sort through a couple of biggish boxfuls yesterday.

One was a box from our younger daughter's "cleanup" of her bedroom. She got a bit overwhelmed with it, and ended up just dumping armloads into boxes and passing them on to me. So that one had a mixture of outright rubbish, some bedlinen and clothes, and a small amount of "keepers" bits and pieces.

The other one was another box of assorted papers. By the look of it, mostly our own "overwhelmed" thingy of putting it all aside without sorting to deal with later. A lot of it was so out of date that tossing it out was a no-brainer, and I stacked what was worth hanging on to into a smaller box. High on the list of "must do's" is making a place for a steel two drawer filing cabinet and storing the paperwork properly.

I also found some magazines and books on the way through. Keeping the gardening and Owner Builder mags. (The latter are reference material for whenever we get the chance to fix up our house.) Keeping the catalogues from a specialist perennial nursery. Turfed the catalogues from a more everyday mail order nursery, and the old Royalauto mags.

Bravo @Smc  😀

Mum was wanting to hoist off some stuff on me but I managed to resist without causing offence. 😀

Re: Decluttering and home maintenance

Small steps again here. Two circular pizza trays put aside to give away 😀

Re: Decluttering and home maintenance

Feeling just a little overwhelmed by the cleaning that needs to happen if we are to put our house on the market.

Re: Decluttering and home maintenance

Feeling for you @Former-Member

I dont know how I would have managed our place if it was not for some amazing support from family and friends.
